He received critical acclaim for his 1967 directorial début Soleil O. Son vrai nom est Mohamed Abid né le samedi 4 mai 1935, à Ain Beni Mathar au Maroc et décédé le samedi 2 mars 2019 à l'âge de 83 ans au 14ème arrondissement de Paris.
